What's in a name?
So one of Grant's first words was "DaDa." Dad wins. :) It's an easier word to say than Mommy and in most cases (so I've read) the Dad wins this contest.
(Of course his real first word came at only a few weeks old..."Hungy" he would scream when he was hungry.)
It wasn't terribly long after saying Dada that he started saying Mama with some infrequency. I think I was around so much that he didn't really need to say my name so he didn't bother most of the time.
A little more than a month ago he started calling me "Me Me"...in true southern form. He uses this term frequently. Constantly even. It's one of his favorite words, right up there with "Jack" and "ball." However, MeMe isn't so happy with this label. It sounds what one might call a grandmother or nanny...not your mother. So, I'm left begging him to say "mommy" instead. I've heard him do it a couple times, but he prefers MeMe.
To muddle things further, if you ask Grant who he is or what is his name, he points to himself and says "ME!" He uses several variations of "me" to mean all sorts of things, from himself, to me, to simply being a sound he uses to try to express his frustration if he's upset.
If I could just get him to put one "Ma" together with one "me" we'd have it!
I suppose I should be glad that he calls me anything....Aunt Heather is going to be waiting a long time before she hears her name it seems. Despite best efforts, and the fact that he can call the neighbor's dog by name (Rudy) he hasn't even pretended to begin trying to say "Heather."
